BOGOTRAX 2008

DAY 1 - THE PRISON BREAK

Not even given time to get over their jetlag,The Audiotrix badgirlz were whisked off under high security conditions into a womens prison in the heart of Bogota.
After 3 hours of searches, passport controls, fingerprinting, photo taking (and even request for blood type!) ixindamix,
feenix13, sweet pills (col), rachel (hekate), la krisis (col), dr fly (fr) and kalama t (fr) plus sound system crew finally
gained access to the innards of the prison.
The rig was quickly set up in the interior courtyard and after a few minor technical glitches the music kicked off with
sweet pils, bogota's very own female minimal techno dj. the empty courtyard was suddenly filled with raving women prisoners
loving it!
The energy mounted throughout the afternoon courtesy of dr fly and ixindamix who filled the dancefloor, and ended with rachel's
unique blend of death metal breakcore!!

"As i set up the liveset in the jailhouse grounds i felt like i was following in the footsteps of elvis presley and johnny cash and had every intention of recording the "live in the jailhouse mix" but of course in the style of all the best live sets it was not to be and the recording didn't come out.
I started the set with a live rendition of bad girls as i felt this was quite fitting considering the venue we were in!

The vibe was intense and it was a rush when the dancefloor started filling up:
All the girlz were loving the music and being entertained by us and there were older ladies dancing the salsa!
They were all very sweet and alot quite young and we wondered why alot of them were there.
I did ask but as my spanish is non exsistent the graphical hand signals i recieved in reply left alot to the imagination and i remain confused , quite possibly shocked,alarmed but still in the dark!

All in all the mission was a great sucess and we are happy to say that we rocked that jailhouse proper and that Audiotrix stickers have never been so popular!"

FOOD!

"It was on the second day of the mish when i discovered the empanada and was soon to realise that this tasty item could well become the highlight of my trip.With countless combinations of fillings and sauces there are endless possibilities for that South America taste sensation......................
But vegetarians beware because you are not catered for.........."

(Since writing this i discovered that the novelty of empanadas can wear off after a few days,if thats all you eat - but for just 2 euros you could get a full fish dinner with coconut rice and fried bananas - see slide show) (Ixindamix)

"The inaugaration night was a series of 5 venues in the Candeleria. (the old centre of Bogota)
We arrived at 10pm ready to do the tour of all the gigs only to be told at each venue that it was full! Now this was a big surprise to me after the Bogotrax 2006 event which consisted of only one gig per night and often not very full! so great news for the organisers and Bogotan ravers!

Meanwhile at the Bogotrax HQ in the north of the city the ranks of the techno massive are swelling.
At the time of writing this a whole new South American contingent have arrived representing Argentina,venezuela,Mexico and Brazil - D.J'S and V.J'S covering many styles of electronic music.

Friday was spent recovering,eating,drinking and sleeping then nipping off to rave the night away at the 'Edifrito' where Dafrikyo played a blinding electro techno set.
